League of Legends recently shared a video about Preseason 2023 and showed all the changes they are planning to implement shortly. New champions, champion updates, jungle changes, and much more! Let’s see what is waiting for us in the upcoming months!
Champion Updates in 2022
In 2022, instead of introducing more champions, Riot decided to update more of their older champions. Janna, Ahri, Swain, Taliyah, Olaf, and Sivir received mid-scope updates so far. We can understand from the pick and win rates that these updates are very successful! Every champion increased their popularity along League of Legends players. Except for Janna, all of them were also played many times in professional leagues!
As it is announced, the next update will be Udyr rework. Udyr will have a new look and a skill set with Patch 12.16. Considering the current Meta, he will definitely be a strong champion for both solo-queue and pro arena!
It goes without saying that Udyr won’t be the last champion to get an update before Preseason 2023. There might be even more than 3 more champions but, Aurelion Sol, Neeko, and Syndra are the only ones announced so far.
Most of the players were unhappy about the skill set for Aurelion Sol, except for the OTPs. Riot finally decided to take an action here. We don’t know all the details yet but in the video shared by Riot, Aurelion Sol will be a complete Dragon. Breathing fire with Q while flying definitely makes the champion fun to play!
Finally, Ahri will get a visual update after her mid-scope update. Riot is very happy about the play rate she hit but the they will make a final touch to her visuals to make her ‘more’ attractive.
New Champions of 2022
In 2022, we received Zeri, Renata Glasc, Bel’Veth, and Nilah as the new champions of 2022. All of them had a unique game style and it is exciting to see that Riot still can find new stuff to make us excited about!
For the remaining time in 2022, we have some information about 3 more new champions! First one: K’Sante!
K’Sante, the Pride of Nazumah, will be a tanky top laner. So far, we know that the champion is from an undiscovered part of Shrumia, the city of Nazumah. The city rejects the authority of Azir, the Emperor of Sands, and is placed in the southern part of the sands. If you are curious about K’Sante’s skills, we need to wait more but in they mentioned that he will use his armor as a weapon!
After K’Sante, we will see 2 more champions. They will be a Darkin assassin and Ixtal Enchanter. Right now we don’t have any further information about these champions except for these visuals:
Gameplay Updates of Preseason 2023
After the durability changes, Riot announced that there won’t be another huge update in the middle of the season again. However, the plans for Preseason 2023 are huge! We will see communcation and vision improvements, with big jungle changes!
Let’s start with communication updates. We all noticed that the communication system in League of Legends is outdated, especially compared with other Riot games. Because of that, we will have a new in-game pinging system! Instead of 4 pings, we will receive 4 more: Back, Harass, Freeze, and Push.
These pings will surely improve team communication when used correctly. We may even see more creative ways of using the pings than spamming question marks. 🙂
Furthermore, the vision system will get minor improvements, too. Putting wards from specific angles can be hard so with the new system, it will be way more clear!
Finally, we will receive another jungle update. The main focus of the changes is most likely the new players. Especially in lower ranks, jungler is arguably the most hated role of the game. Except that, compared to other lanes, it is also hard to play as a jungler.
The first update is about buff sharing. It is always necessary to give your blue buff to the mage and red one to your ADC, but losing the exp and the gold of the buff is frustrating. Because of that, Riot is thinking about a solution in which the jungler will find a pet after donating the buff! Besides that, we will see even more changes like in-game jungle routes, camp reset fairness, and more!
Chemtech Drake
Yes, the Chemtech Drake is back!
Chemtech Drake ‘broke’ the game when it is first introduced. The ability to make the dead champions ‘zombies’ was very OP. Also, the map changes that come with the Drake were not that fun.
Because of these, both the buff and the soul provide and the map of the Chemtech Drake will be removed permanently. The new buff of the Chemtech Soul will provide more damage and damage reduction when your health is low. In the Chemtech Map, the plants on the map will mutate and become empowered! These changes hopefully will provide a better experience playing with Chemtech Drake.
New Skins in Preseason 2023
As Riot shared a survey at the beginning about the skins we want to share, the Gothic theme won the survey by far! As it is announced, we will see more Gothic skins in the name of Fright Night!
These are all the changes Riot shared with us in the video. You can also check the video and see all the changes they mentioned! Our expectation is high for these updates. Looking forward to the start of the Preseason 2023.
